Pioneer Day Camp
Who knew homesteading could be this fun? The Siouxland Heritage Museums and South Dakota Game, Fish, and Parks are hosting their annual Pioneer Day Camp at the Beaver Creek Nature Area, east of Sioux Falls, Tuesdays in June. Kids can experience life as a frontier child in the Dakota Territory at Pioneer Day Camp. Its outdoor, educational, and an all-around great time!
Pioneer Day Camp is a full day of fun at Beaver Creek Nature Area with activities that include learning about the fur trade, fishing, candle dipping, making ice cream, and much more! The camp is for kids 7 to 12 years old, $35 includes registration, meal, and a snack. Registration is limited so call (605) 367-4210 to register!
Victorian Girl Day Camp
There are many activities happening at the Pettigrew Home & Museum this summer. On Thursday, July 24th, girls 8-14 can attend the Victorian Girl Day Camp from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Girls will learn about Victorian tea parties, play indoor and outdoor period games, take a tour of the historic Pettigrew home, and learn what it was like to be a Victorian girl! Registration is $30 and includes snacks and crafts. Girls should bring a sack lunch. Space is limited; please call (605) 367-4210 to register.

Tea Time Mini Camp
Kids ages 5-7 can learn about what it meant to be an American child growing up over a century ago at the Pettigrew Home & Museum on Wednesday, July 23rd from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. Make a craft, tour the historic home, and enjoy tea and treats! Tea Time Museum Mini Camp Registration
Haunted Sioux Falls Bus Tour
Based on local legend and lore, this tour visits locations throughout Sioux Falls to share our ghost stories with you. You may choose to believe or not… The Haunted tour is offered each year in October. Tickets sales begin in September.
Into the Pit Quarry Tour
Join our staff for a bus trip “into the pit” of the Concrete Materials Company’s active quarry. Learn about both historic and modern quarrying and its importance to Sioux Falls. Into the Pit tours are held each summer. Registration begins in May.
Murder Mystery
Murder at the Pettigrew! Each winter at the Pettigrew Home and Museum a live, original murder mystery invites guests to assist our “detectives” in solving a murder. Participants tour the home to meet with suspects and gather clues to help identify the guilty party. Ticket sales begin in January.
Halloween Party
Families are invited to the Old Courthouse Museum to trick-or-treat through the galleries, listen to spooky stories, make a craft, and show off their costumes at our annual Halloween Party. The Halloween Party is held each year on October 31st.
Victorian Tea
Learn the history and etiquette of tea service during the Victorian era and enjoy tea and treats in the unique atmosphere of the Pettigrew Home and Museum. The program includes a short lecture followed by the serving of a proper Victorian Tea. The Tea program is offered to the public quarterly. It can also be scheduled for private groups.
Museum Concert Series
Spend you lunch hour with us and enjoy free music every Friday at noon during our
Concert Series. The Winter Concert Series is held in the restored courtroom each year in November, December, and January. The Summer Plaza Concert Series is held outside in the Reardon Plaza each year in June, July, and August.
Pettigrew Home and Museum Open Houses
Twice each year, the shades are raised in the historic house, and visitors are encouraged to enjoy an open-house style walk through the restored Pettigrew Home. The evening events also include live music, horse and carriage rides around the neighborhood, and refreshments. The R.F. Pettigrew Birthday Party open house is held each July, and A Holiday Evening open house is held each year in December.
