Irene Hall Museum Resource Center Collection

In May of this year, the Irene Hall Museum Resource Center hosted a behind the scenes tour for the Biennial Conference of South Dakota Certified Local Governments. The group helps facilitate the preservation of history through restoring buildings and teaching classes on historic home preservation. The attendees were excited to see how we curate and preserve artifacts from photos to horse drawn carriages. The group also listened to our volunteers describe projects they are working on. In addition, they learned what resources the museum offers the public.
We not only show off the facility to preservation and museum groups, but we also welcome visits from other service groups and clubs. Group tours can be booked for 10-20 people, preferably during the weekday, but other accommodations can be made, staff permitting. If you are not part of a group but still want to enjoy learning about the Siouxland Heritage Museums’ Collection, watch the Museum’s Report for public Behind the Scenes Tours of the Irene Hall Museum Resource Center. The next public tour is scheduled for August 20th at 11 a.m. and costs $5 to attend.
